Galeria Vera Cortês presents a group exhibition with all its artists, structured in 19 solo presentations in nine two-person shows. Throughout the duration of the show, the exhibition space of the gallery will host each week a new exhibition by two of its artists, composed by two artworks, one for each artist, in an attempt to create a dialogue and a critical correlation between them. Located on opposite sides of the room, the pieces will be facing each other, and, by the end of the week, they will be removed and placed in the showroom, leaving the space for the next dialogue. At the end of this exhibition series, the showroom will appear as a Wunderkammer, a cabinet of wonders offering a panorama of the artists represented by the gallery.
A quick note from the Gallery: this exhibition comes from what we experienced in these months, our forced attempts in seeking new modes of communication, of being and not being together, thus reflecting our sense of community and the meaning of unity,
while emphasizing our aim to show everyone, visually announcing that we are here. Present. Together. And in conversation.

There are no guidelines nor indications about the chosen works: they can be sourced from already produced or newly created works; specifically devised for the show or for something else that could not happen. The works will talk for themselves and establish potential dialogues between them, involving the visitor into their conversation. Given that no suggestion about the correspondence of the works is given, the viewer is invited to find her/ his own.

 

A Galeria Vera Cortês apresentar uma exposição colectiva com todos os seus artistas, constituída por 19 apresentações individuais em nove exposições de duas pessoas.
O espaço expositivo da galeria acolherá cada semana uma nova exposição de dois dos seus artistas, consubstanciando-se em duas obras de arte, —uma para cada artista—, numa tentativa de criar um diálogo e uma certa correlação crítica entre eles. Posicionadas em lados opostos da sala, as peças estarão frente a frente, e, uma vez terminada a semana, serão retiradas e colocadas no acervo, deixando o espaço livre para o próximo diálogo. No final desta série de exposições, o acervo aparecerá como uma Wunderkammer, um gabinete de maravilhas que oferece um panorama dos artistas representados pela galeria.
Uma nota rápida da Galeria: esta exposição nasce do momento que vivemos nestes meses, das tentativas, ainda que impostas, de procurar novos modos de comunicação, de estarmos e não estarmos juntos, reflectindo assim a nossa vontade de nos sentirmos uma comunidade e o significado dessa unidade, simultaneamente enfatizando o objectivo de mostrar o trabalho de todos, anunciando visualmente que estamos aqui. Presentes. Juntos. E em diálogo.
Não há orientações nem indicações sobre as obras escolhidas: podem ser provenientes de trabalhos já produzidos ou recém-criadas; especificamente concebidas para a exposição ou para qualquer outra coisa que, entretanto, não aconteceu. As obras falarão por si próprias e estabelecerão potenciais diálogos entre elas, envolvendo o visitante nesta conversa. Dado que não se oferece qualquer sugestão sobre a correspondência entre obras, o espectador é convidado a encontrar a sua própria correspondência.
