“Silence Will Save Us” is a set of unpublished works done ex profeso for this exhibition at the DIDAC Foundation. In the works of “Silence Will Save Us”, music becomes the protagonist of some of the Blind Images, converted on this occasion in Blind Music. To feel a symphony of Haydn or a piano piece by Schönberg resonate in our heads through the minimal reading of its title on a black background, is presented as a possibility for those who know the history of music. In the work of João Louro, the cultural fact is dimensioned as a construction that organizes coexistence and the history of civilizations and as a super structure that, in the same way that French structuralism enunciated, overflows and compartmentalizes our knowledge. Along with the Blind Music, Louro brings us the Score, appropriations of the cover image of old scores of the German musical house Edition Peters, founded at the beginning of the 19th century by the composer Franz Anton Hoffmeister and the organist Ambrosius Kühnel in Leipzig and would count in its catalog with works by Schönberg, Ligeti or Debussy among other authors. To complete, the image of the score of the famous Yesterday by The Beatles or the Aquarela do Brasil by Ary Barroso give life to an exhibition in which the power of the image, the recurrence to the musical language and its clear presence through the enunciation of the word or the image of the musical score, lead us to enter fully into the universe of João Louro.

“Silence Will Save Us” é um conjunto de obras inéditas feitas ex profeso para esta exposição na Fundação DIDAC. Nas obras de “Silence Will Save Us”, a música torna-se protagonista de algumas das Blind Images, convertidas desta vez em Blind Music. Evocar a melodia de uma sinfonia de Haydn ou uma peça de piano de Schönberg através da simples leitura do seu título sobre um fundo preto, apresenta-se como uma possibilidade para todos aqueles que conhecem a história da música. Na obra de João Louro, o fato cultural é dimensionado como uma construção que organiza a convivência e a história das civilizações e como uma superestrutura que, da mesma forma que o estruturalismo francês enunciou, transborda e compartimenta o nosso conhecimento. Junto com as Blind Music, Louro traz-nos os Score (partituras), apropriações da imagem da capa das antigas partituras da casa musical alemã Edition Peters, fundada no início do século XIX pelo compositor Franz Anton Hoffmeister e pelo organista Ambrosius Kühnel em Leipzig e que contava no seu catálogo com obras de Schönberg, Ligeti ou Debussy, entre outros autores. Para completar, a imagem da pauta do famoso Yesterday, dos The Beatles, e Aquarela do Brasil, de Ary Barroso, dá vida a uma exposição na qual o poder da imagem, a recorrência à linguagem musical e a sua presença clara através da enunciação da palavra ou da imagem da partitura, leva-nos a entrar totalmente no universo de João Louro.
